I was experimenting with some pairings and this is one that came up and ended up being a vampire fic. I thought I would post it here.
Title: Promises Made
Author: unbroken_halo
Pairing: Sirius Black and Harry Potter
Rating: PG-13 I guess not real good with ratings
Disclaimer: Harry Potter and company are owned by JK Rowling.
Summary: Sirius returns a changed man after his trip through the Veil but the instinct to get to Harry is still there.
Warnings: Vampirism, Could be considered Darkfic.
AN: There are British terms in this story. Fug is also fog (see HBP American edition pg.38 Chapter 3 Will and Won't) and cell-o-tape is scotch tape
Promises Made
Pale, long fingered hands gripped the edge of the auditorium seating in the basement of the Department of Mysteries in London’s Ministry of Magic. The being hoisted itself up from the depths and took in it’s surroundings. It had been here to protect the young one and that desire was still ingrained into the creature’s soul.
The dark haired thing crawled up to the floor and hissed softly. “Harry?,” it’s raspy voice called. When no one answered the thing stood and sniffed the air as if trying to scent the young man. It sneezed and could smell nothing but dust and the long past odour of humans.
It’s grey eyes glowed radiantly in the darkness of the room and it stepped forward slowly almost as if drugged. The man that once was Sirius Black straightened and a feral grin crossed it’s face and fangs gleamed dangerously as it stepped into the artificial light of the upper stories of the Ministry.
He changed into the big black dog and looked around cautiously at the deserted floor. Here the same smells of long past Wizards and Witches littered the area and they filled his nose causing confusing thoughts. He knew however that Harry was always to returned to Privet Dr. in Surry.
Snuffles changed again almost unseeingly into a black misty fug and escaped into the night.
*************
Harry opened the door to Number Four Privet Dr and looked out again; he could have sworn he had heard something. He supposed he was glad that the Dursley’s had left him alone. A piece of cell-o-tape on the door lock prevented it from latching and he had free reign of the house.
The sounds of the house settling had unnerved him at first but the scratching at the door had caused him to draw his wand and wait for it to happen again. He moved closer to the door and was startled to hear a knock this time. He looked through the spy hole. He gasped and shook his head. He looked through again and saw the same thing.
“Not funny, Gred and Forge.” The young man muttered.
Harry opened the door and Sirius grinned. “Hello Harry.”
Harry rolled his eyes. “Hello,Sirius." He leaned against the door frame, eyes searching the hedges and listening for the snickering of the other twin.
Sirius cocked his head and looked at the young man. “Aren’t you going to invite me in, Harry?”
The young man in question sighed and nodded. “Come in, Sirius.” He turned his back on the man and the grey eyes flared luminescent in the darkness as he crossed the threshold.
Harry lead the way into the kitchen and began to pull down tea things. “Would you like some tea, Sirius?”
“No, Harry. Didn’t you miss me?” Sirius spread his arms wide and smiled at Harry. “That’s no way to welcome your godfather.”
Harry turned back and stared at the man. He knew it wasn’t really Sirius. Maybe the twins didn’t mean any harm by coming as his godfather and he had missed the other man very much. Slowly he walked forward and settled himself against the tall man’s chest.
Sirius’ arms came about him and squeezed him tightly. The last two years came crashing down on him and he rubbed his face in the rough cloth of Sirius’ robes. “Oh, Sirius.” He clinched his fingers in the man’s clothing.
The grey eyes took in the young man and his eyes glowed. “Now, now, Harry. It hasn’t been that long.” He smiled and tipped the pale, crying face up.
Harry sniffled and laid his head against the strong chest against and shook his head. “Very funny, Fred or are you George?”
Sirius chuckled and it sounded like his godfather and he smelled like the cinnamon and cloves that had surrounded the other man. Harry looked up again as Sirius pulled them down onto a kitchen table chair. He settled Harry across his lap and pulled him closer.
“It’s me, Harry, Padfoot. Marauder, Azkaban escapee and all around general Snivellus tormentor. Creator of dissention in the ranks of the good ship Molly Weasley. Snuffles. Don’t you still have my mirror, Harry?”
Harry shook in the man’s arms and swallowed several times trying to calm himself. “You left me, Sirius.” he choked out.
Sirius shushed him. “I’m so sorry, Lil’ Prongs. I promise I’ll never do it again.” He stroked the wild unruly black strands and rubbed Harry’s neck as he pushed the hair out of the way.
Harry burrowed further into the man’s arms crying softly. “She killed you and Professor Lupin wouldn’t let me try and help you. I saw it.”
Sirius tutted. “Now, now, I don’t think she did for I am here now and we’ll have a talk with Moony soon enough, Lil Prongs.” He bent over Harry and nuzzled his neck softly. “You have nothing to worry about now. Shall I take you with me?”
Harry sighed and nodded. “Please don’t leave me again, Sirius.”
Sirius chuckled and nodded his head. “No, Harry I never will again.” He ran his nose up the pale length of Harry’s neck and then sank his teeth into the vein just under the surface.
Harry stiffened in the older man’s lap. “S…Sirius. What are you doing?”
Sirius didn’t answer him but groaned as he continued to suck on the slender neck. Harry moaned softly and wriggled a bit in the tall man’s lap. “Sirius?” The green eyes grew heavy and he shivered.
Sirius placed a hand over Harry’s heart and felt the steady beat begin to slow. He retracted his fangs from the young man’s neck and stood, cradling Harry against him. “Come, now Harry we must leave here. I know of a special place to help you. A wondrous place where no one will ever bother you and I again.”
He licked the puncture marks, lapping up the small drops of blood that welled to the surface. “I’ll never leave you again.”
Sirius Black walked out into the night, carrying the limp form of Harry Potter, talking to him soothingly all the way back to London’s Ministry offices.
***********
The Dursley’s returned home to find the front door standing open. They looked around and could find nothing disturbed except for the door to Harry’s room being unlocked and the tea service on the table. Fearing more retribution from the Wizarding World that checked up on Harry, Petunia walked over to Miss Arabella Figg’s home to inform her to contact the Wizards.
Remus Lupin showed up later that morning and walked into Number Four Privet Dr. He was overwhelmed by the scent of cinnamon and blood. Sirius? It couldn't be but his senses wouldn't lie. He turned around and left the house knowing Harry was gone. There was nothing he could do but knew he would be making a trip to London that afternoon. But first he needed to make certain his affairs were in order. He had a feeling Padfoot would not be the only creature he would encounter once he made his way back to the Veil.

For some reason I really liked that he sneezed, almost as if the undead are slightly alergic to the living. heh.
Well done.
